Tibbits - So much more than a Theatre

Press Release

Abracadabra magic show opens july 31

Date: July 20, 2009

COLDWATER, MI—

Prepare to be amazed!  Some of the top magicians in the country take center stage this summer as a part of Tibbits 2009 Popcorn Theatre Program.  The Abracadabra Popcorn Magic Show comes to Coldwater from Colon, Michigan—the Magic Capital of the World.  Performances begin on July 31 with each performance featuring a different magician.

Rick Fisher & Riley Rabbit will be starting the series off with a bang on July 31.  A professional magician/ventriloquist for over 30 years, Fisher has appeared throughout the United States and Canada including at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.  Fisher owns and operates the FAB Magic Company in Colon, Michigan and appeared on his own PBS special featuring Riley Rabbit.

The mystical entertainment continues on August 1 with Justin Holbrook.  Holbrook has been performing magic for four years and credits his interest to Rick Fisher.  Holbrook has studied under an elite company of his peers including: Lance Burton, Jeff McBride, Eugene Burger and Kevin James (who appeared at Tibbits in 2003).  He has had the opportunity to perform his unique show all over the country and his most recent show is Impossible The Magic Show.  He describes his act as “Imagination Becoming Reality!”

James Kesler & Company perform with Al Angelo on August 7.  Kesler is one of the busiest magicians in the Midwest.  He performs for all types of groups, but has the most fun performing for children and families!  Be prepared to have fun and to be occasionally fooled by Kesler and his crew!

Al Angelo hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is one of the most popular magician/jugglers on the east coast.  His zany humor and classy act is one you surely won’t forget!

The entertainment wraps up on August 8 with Alan Smola and one of the top “thinkers” in magic, Ian Garrison.  Smola, a native of Schoolcraft, Michigan, is currently a student at the University of Michigan.  This young magician has already made great strides in the field of magic, winning several awards for his extraordinary dove act.  Smola will impress you with his flashy, energetic act!

Fellow magicians consider Garrison to be one of magic’s greatest “think tanks.”  He has lectured and performed his original brand of magic, with a bit of comedy, around the world.  His act is incredibly professional, thought provoking and has a twist of comedic relief which makes it highly entertaining for the whole family!

The “Abracadabra Popcorn Magic Show” is sponsored by the Coldwater Exchange Club. Popcorn Theatre is also made possible with support from the Arts and Industry Council, a program of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Juice is provided by McDonald’s of Branch and Hillsdale counties with popcorn provided by Capri Drive In.

The “Abracadabra Popcorn Magic Show” begins at 10 am, July 31, August 1, 7, and 8, 2009 at Tibbits Opera House, located at 14 S. Hanchett St., Coldwater, MI. Tickets are $7 and include free juice and popcorn at intermission. Tickets are available at the theatre box office, on line at www.Tibbits.org, or by calling 517-278-6029 during normal business hours.
