Tibbits - So much more than a Theatre

Gloria Logan

Gloria Logan (Actor) directed, designed and choreographed over 100 productions during her 30 year teaching career at Plymouth Centennial Educational Park. Upon retirement her career was honored by naming the theatre where she worked--the Gloria Logan Auditorium for the Performing Arts. Gloria was twice selected as Michigan’s Theatre Teacher of the Year as well as Eastern Michigan University’s Most Distinguished Alumna. Additionally, she has received numerous national and international performance awards. She has been a Tibbits Opera House favorite for many years playing roles from Bessie in MARVIN’S ROOM to Tessie Tura in GYPSY. Other favorite roles include: Golde- FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Blanche-BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, Lucille-THE CEMETERY CLUB, Aunt Alissa-GIGI, Artie-ELEEMOSYNARY, Melissa-LOVE LETTERS, Cookie-RUMORS, Maria-LEND ME A TENOR, and Miss Clairee in STEEL MAGNOLIAS numerous times for Tibbits and the Kentucky Repertory Theatre. If you watch TV Chicago you may recognize her from her television commercial appearances. This past year she added producer to her career list when she served as co-producer, as well as actor, designer, and painter for a production of GRACE AND GLORIE at the Village Theatre as a benefit for Arbor Hospice. She comes to us most recently from a new career venue of symphonic orchestra narrator. Her greatest joy is her continued “family” connection with her former students both those in and out of Theatre. As always she credits the love of her life, husband Norman, for making life so easy to love.
