The memorial concert will feature pianist Rebecca Mayer, violinist Rachel Kaus and cellist David Peshlakai. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Tibbits Boiler Fund.
The concert organized by Diane Smith Pridgeon and her sister Susanne Smith Wise honors the memories of their family Ruth, Robert, Douglas and Dean Smith. The benefit concert began as a way to celebrate the lives of Robert, Douglas and Dean Smith. “Many years ago, our lives were changed when our father and two brothers died in a small plane crash. The farming community organized a day to harvest our fields. Life went on because of family, faith and friends,” Pridgeon explained. “At the 25th anniversary (2001), we planned a public concert to celebrate. This musical celebration is a way for us to give back to the community that loved us back to life…”
Over the years, different non-profits have benefited from this event, including Habitat for Humanity, the local food pantry and health clinic, Hospice, Family Promise, and others.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students. All seating is general admission for this event.
