Job Summary – This position requires a high level of organizational skill, an understanding of marketing, advertising and social media, and professionalism dealing with the public both in person and over the phone.

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Status: Full time; hourly: 30-40 hours per week, Mon.– Fri., Some nights & weekends

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist committee and staff in evaluating marketing data, preparing and executing marketing plan for Tibbits Opera Foundation and Arts Council, Inc., its activities and the Tibbits Opera House
  • Maintain marketing schedules and reports including tracking spending, purchase orders, advertising buys, and box office marketing reports
  • Develop and maintain positive media relations at local, regional and national levels; maintain media contacts; field media inquiries; send releases and photos; and work with media to increase coverage
  • Coordinate print and electronic advertising for Tibbits events
  • Use computer design skills to create marketing materials—Facebook and website event sliders, flyers, posters, brochures, and PatronMail emails—working with professional designers contracted by Tibbits and maintaining the Tibbits brand
  • Update Tibbits website, maintain Tibbits’ online and social media presence including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., and external websites
  • Help write press releases, blog posts, and newsletter copy, help manage photos; assist with distribution of marketing materials
  • Promote a positive image of Tibbits at all opportunities

Audience Outreach/Box Office

  • Assist the Audience Outreach director with box office and event functions
  • Provide prompt, professional, accurate customer service
  • Assist with answering phones, directing calls and taking ticket orders
  • Use box office reports to develop understanding of the impact of marketing efforts
  • Assist with Front of House for performances as needed, readying the theatre and the box office prior to the performance, assuring the event runs smoothly and properly closing the theatre and box office after the public has left
