The home depot donates ladder

Date:12-30-08

COLDWATER, MI—

Tibbits Opera House recently received an unexpected gift in the form of a 12-foot step ladder donated by the The Home Depot, Coldwater store.

The ladder had been on the theatre’s wish list on its website for nearly a year when Ryan Flannigan, Store Manager of The Home Depot saw it and decided it was something they could help with.  The new fiberglass and aluminum ladder will have many uses in the theatre as it is light weight and much more versatile than some of the theatre’s other ladders.

One of the primary uses will be on stage to allow design crews to set and focus lights safely for the many shows presented at the theatre. Lighting is one of the easily overlooked features of a good stage production. With the variety of performances held at the theatre there are a lot of changes made to the lights depending on the set design, the amount of stage being used, the number of people on stage, and the mood being created for the production.

According to Dave Brown, Tibbits Facility Manager and Technical Director, “This ladder is a great help to so many things we do and allows us to do things much more safely. The summer theatre crew will really appreciate it.”

Home Depot is the world's largest home improvement specialty retailer with stores in all 50 states.  When it was founded in 1978 The Home Depot began changing consumers’ perspective about how they could care for and improve their homes.  The company created the “do-it-yourself” concept, spawning an entire industry that now spans the globe.  The Coldwater store opened in 2003.
