Press Release
The BlanksDate:August 3, 2009COLDWATER, MI— From the hit ABC show Scrubs, The Blanks, also known as “Ted’s Band,” will be performing their original family friendly, comedic a cappella music at Tibbits Opera House at 8pm on September 19.
The Blanks are a quartet of friends - Sam Lloyd, Philip McNiven, George Miserlis and Paul F. Perry - who enjoy singing a cappella music. Although they may be best known for their frequent appearances on Scrubs, they have also released a CD, and do live shows, where they sing TV and movie themes such as “Charles in Charge” and the “Six Million Dollar Man.”
The Blanks’ style fuses the vocal style of 1940s barbershop quartets with humorous lyrics resulting in hilarious songs which often parody modern day situations. There are even a few songs featuring themes the younger generation can relate to such as “Speed Racer” and “The Full Monty.”
The Blanks band member Sam Lloyd was born in Weston, Vermont. He learned, thanks to his parents’ own passion, to love the theatre at a very young age. Lloyd has been singing and performing ever since. He later attended Syracuse University where he met George Miserlis and Paul Perry.
George Miserlis is from Lowell, Massachusetts. Outside of his accomplishments with The Blanks, Miserlis sites performing with the original cast of “Forever Plaid” at the Canon Theatre in Beverly Hills as one of his greater accomplishments.
Paul F. Perry is from Stoneham, Massachusetts. Perry is also a member of the bicoastal Beatle cover band, “The Butties.” Perry says that the two bands require plenty of air travel, during which he says he has now seen every Tim Allen film ever made, a proud accomplishment.
Philip McNiven is originally from Philadelphia. McNiven was the final member to join the group. Lloyd, Miserlis and Perry met McNiven in Los Angeles where the group of four officially formed The Blanks.
Tickets for The Blanks are $26, $24 for Tibbits members and $12 for students. They are available at www.Tibbits.org or by calling 517-278-6029. Tibbits Opera House is located at 14 South Hanchett Street; box office hours are 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.
