Tibbits - So much more than a Theatre

Press Release

Tibbits Annual Meeting

Date:  January 8, 2007

COLDWATER, MI—Opera Foundation and Arts Council will celebrate its annual meeting on January 18 with entertainment, door prize drawings and a positive financial picture. The community is invited to join the board of directors with a reception at 5:30 hosted by the newly formed Tibbits Boosters followed at 6 pm with entertainment.

For entertainment Tibbits has invited several alumni of the Tibbits Young Audiences program, the arm of the Tibbits which annually presents plays and musicals with a cast of children.  As Tibbits moves into 2007, it looks forward to celebrating the 125th anniversary of this community treasure.  According to Christine Delaney, Executive Director, “The building may be old, but it’s filled with a youthful spirit and how better to proclaim that spirit than by acknowledging what Tibbits does for youth.”   Delaney adds, “All of our entertainers have been involved with Tibbits since a very early age.  We thought it would be fun to show how those early talents blossomed.”

The business of the evening will include an overview of the 2005-06 fiscal year which ended in the black.  Board Treasurer Ray Sebastian will present the financial report. “It was a very good year,” he says. “Many changes and investments the board has made over the past few years are starting to pay off.”  The new members will also be elected to the board that evening.

All guests attending the celebration will be eligible for a special door prize drawing for two tickets to see outstanding Canadian fiddler, Natalie McMaster, at the Wharton Center on March 18.  Second prize will be two tickets to a Tibbits show.

There is no admission fee, but reservations are encouraged by calling Tibbits offices at (517) 278-6029.
