Tibbits - So much more than a Theatre

Press Release

Whine with Wine at Tibbits

Date: 4/17/2008

COLDWATER, MI—

Four incredible Michigan songwriters have joined together to perform as “Whine, Wine, Wine” or better yet, "Whine Whine Whine, with Wine". For short you can just call them "the Whiners"!

The Songwriters include Drew Nelson (www.drewnelson.com), Jan Krist (Jan Kristwww.jankrist.net), Jim Bizer (www.jimbizer.com) and Annie Capps (www.anniecapps.com)

Drew, Jan, Jim, and Annie are all award winning songwriters who have toured nationally for years. All of these fine acts have been featured as part of the Michigan Arts and Humanities Touring Directory.

Matt Watroba of WDET FM Public Radio, Detroit, had this to say, “Watch out for Annie Capps! Her latest recording and recent live shows are proof that yet another major talent is developing here in Michigan.” Peter Mulvey noted, “When you hear Drew Nelson sing and play you are hearing a real live son of Michigan – sandy soil, tough winters, good fishing and no BS.”

Billboard Magazine found that Jan Krist’s “talent as a songwriter equals – if not surpasses her vocal gifts. She has an uncanny way of cutting to the heart of a topic and providing the listener with food for thought.” Finally, Vance Gilbert, singer/songwriter exclaimed “What a great songwriter and performer! Having Jim (Bizer) on the show just ups the ante!”

The idea to "Whine with wine" was born while Jan, Jim and Drew were on a tour to the East Coast. Jan suggested they tour together as "Whine, Whine, Whine" It's a little spoof of a very famous folk tour of three singer/songwriters in the early '90s called Cry, Cry, Cry. The "Cry" Tour was so dubbed because the songwriters involved were known for making audiences tear up.

Drew Nelson had spent some time as a wine steward for a posh wine shop. He suggested that we "Whine with Wine" and that is precisely what the group plans to do.
