Professional Ballet at Tibbits First Time In More Than 20 Years

COLDWATER, MI—

Tibbits Opera House, in partnership with Young Michigan Dances, is extremely pleased to present the Grand Rapids Ballet Company, Michigan’s only professional ballet company, in an outstanding repertoire performance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, at Tibbits Opera House.

This one-night only performance is sponsored in part by Bronson & Coldwater Banking Centers and the Stanley G. Godfrey Endowment Fund for the Arts.

Celebrating its thirty-sixth season, the Grand Rapids Ballet Company, recipient of the ArtServe Michigan Governor’s Arts Award for Outstanding Cultural Organization, is well-known for the innovative, exciting choreography of Artistic Director Gordon Peirce Schmidt. Currently the Company employs 15 professional dancers who have trained and danced throughout the world.

The Grand Rapids Ballet Company remains committed to its mission, to lift the human spirit through the art of dance. The program of demanding, athletic and inspiring movement they are bringing to Tibbits on February 22 is designed to do just that, lift the human spirit.

The evening will consist of a mixed repertoire of pieces for the whole family. Performed will be “Fete”, “Suite Bach”, music by J. S. Bach; “Mother Goose Suites”, music by Maurice Ravel and “A Foggy Day”, music by Theolonius Monk, Dizzie Gillespie, Billy Strayhorn, Charlie Parker and Gershwin.
