Tibbits stages 'Little Woman"Date:June 24, 2008COLDWATER, MI— A surprise of the 2005 Broadway theatre scene was the production of a fresh new musical version of the classic novel “Little Women.” Tibbits is the first professional theatre in Michigan to bring this classic tale to the stage. Performances on Thursday – Saturday, June 26 – 28, Thursday, July 3, and Saturday, July 5 are all at 8 pm. 2 pm matinees will be held on Thursday, June 26, and Wednesday, July 2. Louisa May Alcott’s beloved story is one of the most-read novels ever written. Her famed heroine is Jo, the budding writer in Civil War New England who pines for adventure and independence. With Father off to war, it is up to Jo along with practical older sister Meg, vain sister Amy, and frail sister Beth to help Marmee keep the home fires burning while dealing with the rigors of adolescence. While six generations have read this story, this one will sing it! “Little Women” is a timeless, exhilarating musical, guaranteed to lift the spirit and fill family members of all ages with laughter and tears. Vandervoort, Christ & Fisher, P.C., located in Coldwater and Battle Creek, is proud to once again support Tibbits Professional Summer Theatre by sponsoring this production. Through its sponsorship the firm continues to demonstrate a commitment to the arts and the community. Additional events to enrich the theatre experience include a “Little Women” tea luncheon on Thursday, June 26, at 11:30 am at the Chicago Pike Inn and Spa sponsored by Beadin’ Mon!, a bead supply store in Flint, MI. After the performance on Friday, June 27, audience members are invited to immerse themselves in the Civil War era by joining the Branch County Historical Society for dessert served at the Wing House Museum with characters in full Civil War attire.
