Tibbits Opera Foundation and Arts Council Annual Meeting

Date: 1/21/08

COLDWATER, MI—

Tibbits Opera Foundation and Arts Council will hold its annual meeting on Thursday evening, January 24, with a look back on the 125th anniversary year of this cultural treasure.

The community is invited to join the board of directors as they look back on the 2006-07 fiscal year this Thursday, January 24. A reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by the annual meeting at 6:00 p.m. New members will be elected to the board that evening.

The year held a myriad of events from “The Best of The Second City” direct from Chicago, a world premiere of Polacco’s stories adapted for the stage as “Patricia Polacco’s Union City”, an evening with Michigan’s own Jeff Daniels and “Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play” to name just a few.

The children in Coldwater and the surrounding communities were also able to take advantage of the opportunities Tibbits provides as they enjoyed professional children’s productions such as “The Rainbow Fish.” Thanks to the efforts of Tibbits Young Audiences over 50 local children were able to take to the stage themselves in “The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.”

Sunday afternoons in September brought back memories as Tibbits reverted to the movie theatre it once was with such old-fashioned favorites as “Nancy Drew Reporter,” “Ma and Pa Kettle go to Town” and “the Wizard of Oz.”

The anniversary celebration was capped with Tibbits Celebration Ball … 125 years Under the Stars with dining and dancing in an elegant tent at the Golf Club of Coldwater.

Reservations for Tibbits annual meeting Thursday, January 24, are encouraged by calling Tibbits offices at 517-278-6029.

Tibbits Opera House is located at 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater.
