MURDER, MYSTERY, & TREACHERY COME TO TIBBITS WITH A HITCHCOCK DOUBLE FEATURE

COLDWATER – Come see the master of the thriller genre when the Tibbits Classic Film Series screens Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble with Harry and Saboteur on April 14, 2018 at 7pm.

Alfred Hitchcock, a man ahead of his time, is credited as the creator of the thriller genre. His repertoire includes a host of films including Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, and The Birds.

The first film Tibbits will show on the big screen is The Trouble with Harry, a story that focuses on secrecy, love, and possible murder. Captain Albert Wiles (Edmund Gwenn) discovers the dead body of Harry in the woods of Vermont during a morning hunt. Fearful that he is the cause of the death, he tries to bury the body, hoping that this would solve his problems more effectively than telling the authorities. Before Captain Wise can begin digging, a couple stumbles across the body. Captain Wiles tries to hide in the woods, but is spotted by Ivy Gravely (Mildred Natwick), who vows to keep the Captain’s secret. Captain Wiles learns that Harry was married and his wife, Jennifer Rogers (Shirley MacLaine), is happy that he is dead. After Captain Wiles finds the rabbit he shot that morning, it’s anyone’s guess as to who really killed Harry. This picture also includes other stars like John Forsythe and Mildred Dunnock.

To close out the evening is Saboteur, a war thriller that sees the likes of Priscilla Lane and Robert Cummings gracing the screen together. Barry Cane (Cummings) is on the run from the authorities, suspected of being responsible for a fire that burns down the aircraft factory and killing his best friend. Along the way, Barry meets Patricia Martin (Lane). Together they uncover gangs of fascist supporters, plans of sabotage, and the real culprit behind the factory fire. In a thrilling cross-country chase to clear his name, can Barry stop the saboteur before his next attack?
