‘Resident Alien’ Closes TST Mainstage Season

COLDWATER – An “out-of-this-world” situational comedy, Resident Alien closes Tibbits’ mainstage season when it plays from August 2-11 at the historic Tibbits Opera House.

Written by Stuart Spencer, Resident Alien plays out with Michael’s son being taken up into an alien space ship, and his testy ex-wife, her slow-witted husband, and the “anything but by the book” sheriff won’t believe him. The AWOL alien, who is much more interested in watching reality TV and eating Cheese Doodles, even makes himself at home in Michael’s living room.

The show is directed by Charles Burr and features a professional company from across the United States, including Chad Tallon as Michael, Jackie Collins as Priscilla, Tony Milder as the alien, Sean Noonan as Ray, and Drew Hampton as the sheriff. Local Devin Dosier joins the cast as Billy. Resident Alien’s design staff includes set by Johnmichael Bohach, costumes by Emily Westing, lights by Catie Blencowe, and props by Hannah Cormier.

Performances are August 2-4 and 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. with matinees at 2 p.m. on August 2 and 8. Resident Alien is presented with the support of PNC Bank.  Tickets are available online at Tibbits.org, through the Tibbits Box office at the theatre 9 am to 6 pm weekdays or by calling 517-278-6029. All performances are held at the beautiful historic Tibbits Opera House, 14 S. Hanchett Street, in Coldwater.

To add to the Tibbits experience, Tibbits’ Ghost Light Bar in the theatre’s elevator lobby serves wine, beer, and a limited selection of mixed drinks and themed beverages before the show and at intermission.

After the Saturday, August 4 performance, the public is invited to join the cast and crew for a talkback reception to discuss the show and ask questions. After the Friday, August 10 performance, the public is invited to go down to the art gallery for “Cocktails with the Cast and Crew,” a more intimate afterglow mingling experience.
