The Tibbits Art Gallery is located in the lower level of the Tibbits Opera House. Year-round exhibits feature the works of both aspiring and established artists. Art Gallery exhibits are coordinated by Arts Alive, an organization that hosts gallery exhibitions, organizes Art Walks and other art-related community events in Coldwater, MI.
Arts Alive’s goal is to provide an outlet to facilitate education, growth and an appreciation for arts and culture in all forms.
Tibbits Summer Theatre Art Contest
Tibbits is looking for artists to create original poster art for their four summer theatre productions, Ken Ludwig’s Be My Baby, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, West Side Story, and See How They Run, which marks Tibbits’ 56th season of professional summer.
This contest will feature original artwork that will be used in the print & digital marketing campaign for the entire Tibbits Summer Theatre season. The art will also hang in the administrative office windows of Tibbits in the form of a 36×58 inch poster.Each artist selected will receive two complimentary tickets to the show for which they supplied the art as well as a cash prize of $50.
TST Summer Poster Guidelines:
- Artists are encouraged to use any medium they choose, whether it’s hand-created paintings or digital art.
- Artists can create work for one or all of the summer shows, but only one piece will be selected per show. No artist will be selected for more than one show.
- Artists are encouraged to incorporate the TST icon for the corresponding show within their designs, but it is not required (See icons above). EXAMPLES of icons & final designs from 2018 are listed below.
- Designs should feature a large graphic and the show title.
- All finished pieces should be in a hi-res digital format, fit an 11 x 17 format, and be submitted to marketing@Tibbits.org by February 1, 2019.

Gallery Exhibitions / CALL FOR WORK
Local and regional artists have the opportunity to submit their artwork for the enjoyment of Tibbits patrons and the wide region from which Tibbits draws. There is a small entry fee for each piece.
Patrons have the opportunity to select their favorite piece during each exhibition. Several artists are awarded a people’s choice awards at the end of each show. Patrons also have the opportunity to purchase work through the Tibbits box office or Tibbits administration office.
Current & Upcoming Shows:
Artists can interpret each gallery theme in any way they see fit. All ages are welcome to submit artwork.
Enter up to 3 pieces per show at $5 per piece. Pieces must be ready to hang (PLEASE use a hanging wire (due to the nature of our new system with uses large hooks, small nail holes or little tooth hangers on the back of frames DO NOT WORK). Sculptures and all other mediums accepted.
People’s Choice Award given to top 3 artists. You can also sell your work if you want (on commission). Please do not submit artwork that contains nudity. Arts Alive has the right to refuse entries.
