ARTISTS AND BUSINESSES SOUGHT FOR “A CHAIR AFFAIR” FUNDRAISER
COLDWATER –Artists, crafters, and businesses interested in recreating, upcycling and reinventing chairs for Arts Alive’s newest fundraiser, “A Chair Affair” will have the opportunity to exhibit their talents and win cash prizes.
Artists are being asked to take a chair of any kind and transform it into a work of art. Businesses interested in participating are being asked to either create their own chair or find an artist to create one for them. All entries are due by June 14. Chairs will then be placed in businesses for silent auction and put on facebook for online bidding from June 20 through July 19. The fundraiser will culminate on July 20 during downtown ArtWalk from 3-7:30pm with an art installment of all chairs and acceptance of final bids. Cash prizes to artists will also be awarded at the close of ArtWalk.
“A chair is a great starting point for people who might be overwhelmed by an art project,” said Arts Alive member and “A Chair Affair” chair Darci Gaff. “This is a fun creative way to get community members and businesses involved. The possibilities are endless for this fundraiser!” she continued.
Gaff organized this event last year in Hillsdale and previous years in the Angola, Ind. area with much success. Artists are encouraged to paint, fabricate, repurpose chairs or use other items to create a chair. Themed chairs are also encouraged, especially for business entries.
Registration forms and additional information for businesses are available at Tibbits.org/shows-events/art/. All registration forms, the $20 entry fee, and chair entries must be submitted to Tibbits Administrative Offices at 93 W. Chicago in Coldwater.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit Arts Alive for the continued promotion of community art events, exhibits and arts education within Branch County.
