Artists Wanted for “Pops of Color” Art Gallery Show
COLDWATER – Arts Alive is asking local artists to join their next gallery show, “Pops of Color,” which will be installed in Tibbits Opera Houses’ art gallery in May and will be on display during the evening of ArtWalk on June 8 and through the first two shows of Tibbits Summer Theatre.
Artists of any age are free to submit up to three pieces at $5 per submission. Paintings, photographs or drawings should be fitted with a hanging wire. Sculpture or other mediums are accepted and encouraged as well. While the theme is “Pops of Color,” it is totally up to the artist to interpret the theme as they see fit. Artists can also sell their submitted work on commission. Cash prizes will be also awarded to the top artists based on audience votes at the theatre and through facebook, which will be a new system of voting for this show.
Aside from the gallery being open during events held at Tibbits, the timing of this particular show will bring additional opportunities. “This is a great opportunity for artists of all skill levels to show their work, and sell it, too. ArtWalk will occur during the middle of this gallery show, and we encourage all artists to be at the artist reception during this downtown event, which is free to the public, in June,” said Arts Alive board member Stephanie Burdick. She added, “Additionally, Tibbits Summer Theatre brings thousands of people into the area to see professional live theatre, and it’s wonderful that those patrons also have the opportunity to see the variety of artwork in the gallery while they’re visiting the theatre. The exposure that artists can get from this one show is just amazing.”
In order to be included in the “Pops of Color” art show, please drop off all pieces to the Tibbits Administration Office on 93 W. Chicago St by May 17 at 4:30 pm. “Pops of Color” will be displayed at Tibbits until July 16, after which time artists can come collect their work.
The art gallery currently features artwork by area artists who submitted pieces for “ACHOO: The Sights and Sounds of Spring.” The art gallery is open before and during all events at the Tibbits, or can be opened during normal business hours during the week by calling the Tibbits Administration Office. Starting May 1 when the Tibbits box office opens for the season at the theatre, the art gallery will also be open M-F 9am-6pm. There is no admission charge for the gallery and visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite artwork.
