ARTS ALIVE SEEKS ARTISTS FOR FALL ART WALK
COLDWATER – As Arts Alive plans for the fall Art Walk to be held Friday, October 14, 2016, the group invites artists to get involve not only with the downtown event but with all of the exhibits and activities associated with creating a walking culture and creative environment in Coldwater.
Art Walk seeks to enrich people through arts while providing downtown businesses the opportunity to invite new patrons into their stores. Arts Alive pairs one or two artists with each business for the evening. They try to fit artwork with an appropriate and complimentary space. Artist must have their work ready to display and enough work to create an interesting exhibit.
For attendees the resulting event is a collection of exhibits interspersed throughout the downtown to walk, sample hors d’ oeuvres and beverages hosted by the businesses, and enjoy the work of an assortment of artists.
Arts Alive also hosts rotating exhibits in the art gallery of the Tibbits Opera House. The current exhibit, Yummy Yellow may be viewed during the Art Walk, during performances at the theatre or by appointment. That exhibit runs through November 1. The next exhibit, Flora & Fauna will run November 14 through Jan. 9. Up to 3 pieces of artwork can be submitted for the show. Each entry is $5 and will be entered into a People’s Choice Award for a chance to win one of three monetary prizes.
Winners of the summer exhibits were Lori Faulkner’s “Born Free” for the Young and the Wreckless exhibit. For the Along Those Lines exhibit winners were Lori Faulkner’s “Lightening,” Sarah Kalasky, and student prize to Carter VanStone for “Times Square.”
Art Walk, in collaboration with the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce takes place from 5 to 8pm.
Arts Alive’s mission is to provide an outlet to facilitate education, growth and appreciation for arts and culture in all forms. The organization seeks artists and art lovers who wish to be involved in planning and participating in art exhibitions, art walks and other community related art activities.
