Auction Update: “Tibbits Olde West”
COLDWATER – Imagine a time of rambling cowboys on horseback in the open terrain of the wild frontier- saloons, gold, and covered wagons. Join volunteers and staff of Tibbits Opera House November 4, 2017 and take a journey back to the olde west for Tibbits 38th Annual Auction “Tibbits Olde West.”
The silent auction will start at 6 pm and the live auction at 8 pm. All proceeds go directly to the daily operations and maintenance of the historic Tibbits Opera House, built in 1882.
This time-honored event features a special theme each year. This year volunteers and staff will transform the theatre to sweep guests back in time with decorations, costumes and plenty of good-olde west ambiance.
The event includes a 50/50 raffle, a large raffle, sponsored by Great Lakes Chiropractic with a grand prize of $1000, heavy hors d’uevres provided by Tasteful Kreations, beverages, souvenir wine glasses, and an auction favorite, a wine pull.
Current items up for bid in the live auction include Caribbean trips to up-scale resorts in the Grenadines, Antigua, Saint Lucia, Panama, and Barbados, a cabin in Escanaba, four Disney World Park- Hopper Passes, four tickets to see Mannheim Steamroller at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, a private VIP Winery Tour for 8 to Chateau Grand Traverse, a Fitbit Blaze Smart Fitness Watch donated by Century Bank and Trust, and a Makita Air Compressor donated by CEM Supply, Inc., and a Toro 21” Push Briggs & Stratton Walk Mower just to name a few. Silent auction items up for bid include antiques, gift cards to various local and non local businesses, an assortment of gift baskets, small furniture, gardening supplies, children’s items, and craft supplies.
Plenty of cash sponsors have already staked a claim! Cash donations are broken into four categories: Lucky Horseshoes, up to $99; Silver Stars, $100+; Blazing Saddles, $300+; and Golden Spurs, $600+.
Tibbits Special Events Coordinator, Amy Crabtree explains, “This event has a reputation being a fun, social event. Each donation brings value to the fundraiser and is a great asset. During the auction, people have a great time while supporting the theatre in a very important way.”
To pre-register for a bidder number, go to Tibbits.org, free of charge. There is no admission fee but plenty of opportunity to bid, buy and tip to support the historic theatre and all it brings to the community.
Every donation given to the auction has a major impact. Live and silent auction items will be accepted through October 27. To donate, drop off items Monday through Friday 9-5 at Tibbits administrative office, 93 W. Chicago Street, Coldwater, or call Amy at 517.278.6029 to arrange a donation pick up.
