COLDWATER – Tibbits Young Audiences will hold auditions for its fall play “Rumpelstiltskin Private Eye” on August 22 and 23 at 5pm at Tibbits Opera House.
In this witty film noir fairytale spoof, Fairytale Land has been hit by a crime wave. The Three Bears’ home was broken into. The Three Little Pigs’ homes were destroyed. Now Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother is missing. The crimes seem unrelated, at least if you listen to those shady Grimm brothers. But could an evil mastermind be behind them all? Something punny is going on! Only hard-boiled detective Rumpelstiltskin and his wise-cracking partner Ugly Duckling can solve this wacky case.
Auditions are open to any student in fourth through eighth grades. Students should bring a current, non-returnable photo, their completed audition form, and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Students will audition in groups of five and will be asked to introduce themselves from stage and read parts from the script.
Auditions for Tibbits Young Audiences next play, “Rumpelstiltskin Private Eye” will be August 22 and 23 at 5 pm at Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater, MI for students grades 4-8. Pictured is the cast from the spring musical, “Peter Pan.”

Rehearsals will begin September 5, 2023 and will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30; not all roles meet all days. The show will be presented Oct. 19-21 at 7 pm at Tibbits.
“Rumpelstiltskin Private Eye” will be directed by Jayne Lillis and produced by Tirsha Odisher. This production is generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Coldwater. Students involved will learn characterization, blocking, costuming, makeup and all aspects of a stage production.
Tibbits Young Audiences offers programs both for and by area youth to develop their interest in the arts. Two shows yearly, a non-musical in the fall and a musical in the spring, provide students an enjoyable introduction to the world of theatre.
