COLDWATER – Tibbits Entertainment Series swings into the holidays with a one-woman comedy “Christmas Bingo: It’s a Ho-Ho-Holy Night!” on Sunday, December 21 at 2 pm with support from St. Charles Borromeo Knights of Columbus.
Creator of the hit “Late Night Catechism,” Vicki Quade developed and stars in this entertaining and interactive Christmas show at Tibbits. Within the show, she’ll have audience members playing bingo while answering questions about Christmas traditions, the origin of St. Nick, where candy canes come from, miracles in the Bible, and the funniest true and false quiz about St. Nick you’ll ever find.
While filled with Catholic humor, audiences of all religions will enjoy the event with a real game of bingo complete with fun bingo cards and a box of wacky prizes. You’ll be laughing so hard, you’ll have to be careful not to miss watching your bingo cards!
“Late Nite Catechism” is a long-running solo comedy play about a fictitious Catholic nun, written by Quade and Maripat Donovan. The show, which opened in 1993, started a trend of nuns in participatory theatre. In the original, the actress playing the nun is the only person on stage, and members of the audience become members of the nun’s school class. Quade wrote the original 60-page draft in three weeks, and over time the authors revised the material. Quade produced the show in Chicago, and in 2000, was nominated for a Los Angeles Drama Circle Critics Award. “Christmas Bingo” was created to meet audience demand for more.
According to Quade’s program bio, “She grew up thinking the nuns in her school were the product of a dangerous liaison between humans and angels. Later, when four nuns picked her up while she was waiting for a late night bus, she knew they were okay.”
Promising wholesome and respectful fun for the entire family, “Christmas Bingo: It’s a Ho-Ho-Holy Night!” is at 2 pm at the historic Tibbits Opera House at 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater. Part of the Tibbits Entertainment Series, tickets are $25, $22 for Tibbits members and $15 for students including fees.
