Winter goes out with a roar of laughter when stand-up comedy returns to the Tibbits Opera House stage on March 13 for Coldwater’s 2nd annual Comedy Fest.
Part of the Tibbits Entertainment Series, the show begins at 7:30. This year’s mini festival features three outstanding comedians and appeals to a broad audience.
Nationally renowned comedian Mike Green and winner of the 2007 Las Vegas Comedy Festival Best Male Comic and the 2007 New York Comedy Expo Best Comedian, headlines the Comedy Fest. Possessing a natural likeability, Mike brings clever, clean comedy to the table. With a strong improv background, he takes audiences on an hour-long “Comedy Vacation”.
Green has worked with such luminaries as Tim Allen, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Titus & Ellen Degeneres and has performed in 48 states. He headlines the Comedy Stop at the Tropicana in both Las Vegas and Atlantic City, The Comedy Castle in Detroit, Funny Bone South Bend, & countless other clubs and colleges from New York to Los Angeles.
Feature comedian, Tommy Ryman, grew up with a new-age, folk singing mother and a traditional, Lutheran insurance-agent father. This XY equation evidently equals acclaimed comedian. Ryman has earned the title of semifinalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Roseanne Barr, a professed fan, raves she has “never seen anything like [Tommy] before in [her] whole life, [he is] one-of-a-kind, fantastic!” Ryman’s act can be described as absurdist and clever, masked behind a very likable and innocent demeanor, often thought of as disturbingly adorable. He is a favorite among audiences at top clubs and colleges around the nation.
The evening’s emcee, D.K. Hamilton has been termed a “student of human behavior.” Hamilton is a comedy club favorite, entertaining audiences with his unique, smart, and sardonic takes on pop culture, race, and relationships. Using his ability to entertain a great variety of audiences without resorting to lowest common denominator humor, Hamilton was an audience favorite at the 2010 Laugh Detroit Comedy Festival, performed in the 2012 FOX 101.3 Brew Ha Ha, and performed in Gilda’s Laughfest 2011, 2012, and 2013.
Tibbits Marketing Director Jeff Jones believes that Tibbits is a great venue for comedy and an excellent value for your entertainment dollar. Jones states, “The Comedy Fest will prompt laughter destined to warm you up on a cold night which is exactly what we need after a winter like this.” He continues, “This show offers something that is rare in entertainment, hilarious non offensive comedy that will be enjoyed by a wide variety of tastes and ages.”
Beer and wine cash bar will be available during the show and intermission.
