Comedian Heywood Banks to Perform at Tibbits
COLDWATER – A regular on the “Bob and Tom Show” for years, Heywood Banks returns to the Tibbits stage with his unique brand of humor on July 22 at 7:30 p.m. as part of Tibbits Entertainment Series.
Heywood Banks is simply one-of-a-kind, almost impossible to describe, with a style his very own. Billed as “Equal parts genius and buffoon,” this songwriter-comic-singer-poet-musician has become a cult hero and a pop icon. This evening of comedy appeals to all ages.
Banks intersperses his humorous observations of life with twisted, inventive, bizarre songs, sung and played in a variety of styles, from folk, to country to rock to pop, and beyond. Audiences can appreciate him on several levels. According to his website, the deepest level demands a high level of pop culture literacy, but many enjoy him just for his vocal style impersonations, expert musicianship and just plain silliness.
Banks has been featured in “Rolling Stone Magazine” and “People Magazine.” He won first place in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search Contest. He has appeared on A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” MTV’s “1/2 Hour Comedy Hour,” CNN’s “Hollywood Minute,” “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Showtime Comedy Club Network,” “Dr. Demento Show,” “12th Annual HBO Young Comedians Special with Paul Rodriguez” and is a frequent guest on the national Bob and Tom radio show.
The event also offers a beer and wine cash bar. Tickets for Heywood Banks are $25 (including fees) and are available online at Tibbits.org, through the Tibbits box office at the theatre Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or by calling 517-278-6029. The historic Tibbits Opera House is located at 14 S. Hanchett Street in Coldwater. For more information call or visit Tibbits.org.
