After ten months, Tibbits may finally open its doors but to limited capacity and with restrictions including social distancing and no concessions. It’s great and we’re happy, but most of our programming is planned months in advance. Additionally, the imposed limitations directly affect our bottom line, making it too risky to plan many of our usual performances.
Rather than see the theatre continue to stay dark, we are opening the programming to the community for the next three months. Is there a movie you’d love to see on the big screen? Do you play in a band or know of a band that’s always dreamed of performing on the Tibbits stage? Here’s your chance.
You can help plan and sponsor your own public performance* at Tibbits Opera House at a fraction of the normal rental price. The show will be open to the public with donations to Tibbits accepted at the door. Tibbits will handle the basic marketing for the performance and Tibbits’ professional staff will run the show. You get to enjoy a performance of your own making and feel the excitement of sharing it with others.
To program a film, the cost is the fee for the film royalties or a minimum $200. Choice of film is subject to availability of the royalties. New releases of major films and films in the Disney franchise are not available.
To program a band or performance group the fee is $250 if you supply all of your own equipment and $300 to utilize Tibbits’ equipment. Groups are allowed one hour for set up and sound check. They must break for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow for seating and have up to 90 minutes to perform.
The intent is to bring fresh creative opportunities to the Tibbits stage. We therefore encourage sponsors to seek appropriate content. To discuss a performance and book a date, contact Christine Delaney or Stephanie Burdick at Tibbits at 517-278-6029. A minimum of three weeks is needed to properly promote an event.
*All safety protocols for the theatre will be followed, including social distancing and masks.
