Students in grades 3-12 can take a two-week artistic adventure June 15-18 and 22-26, exploring the world of theatre and honing their own skills through theatre games, role playing and performance activities. Led by drama teacher and TST actor Chad Tallon, the two-week journey will build confidence, improve public speaking skills and teach teamwork. Participants gain basic theatre understanding and work individually on performances of their choice, then showcase on June 27 what they learn at the end of the workshop.
Chad Tallon is a professional actor and teacher from Illinois. Currently the drama teacher at Thomas Metcalf School in Bloomington, IL, Chad has spent the last three years teaching grades 1-8 and directing multiple productions during the school year. Chad’s teaching experience began in 2011 while on a the National Tour of “Taming of the Shrew” and “Of Mice and Men” where he worked as workshop master for young audiences. Chad then moved on to teach collegiality before moving to Syracuse, NY to work as an actor, teaching fellow, and curriculum coordinator at the Redhouse Arts Center where he worked with the youth of the Syracuse City School District in the classroom every day integrating theatre into the common core curriculum. As an actor, Chad has worked all over the United States and has spent five summers in Coldwater at the Tibbits. Favorite shows include “The Producers”, “Chicago”, “Funny Money”, and “Greater Tuna”. Chad hopes to see all those grades 3-12 at the camp!
