Foreigners Journey Returns to Tibbits in July
COLDWATER – With sonic guitars, booming vocals and crushing drums, the tribute band Foreigners Journey duplicates the sound and style of two of the ‘80s biggest arena rock bands, Foreigner and Journey, July 14, 2018 in a concert at Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater, Michigan.
This tribute show features keyboardist Paul Kochanski, bassist Joe Pettengill, lead singer Keith Carmichael, guitarist Amos Sanfilippo and drummer Art Mambuca, all of which play an important part in forming the most authentic tribute to both Foreigner and Journey.
Since its inception in 2014, this authentic tribute band has gained national recognition at festivals and concerts in Chicago, New England, Pennsylvania and many theater/auditorium shows. Together the current lineup bring years of live performance, songwriting, recording, and touring experience to the band.
The original Foreigner was formed in 1976 after founding member Mick Jones found himself stranded in New York in the wake of his previous band’s break-up. While continuing to write music, Jones auditioned a new band and eventually found a group that generated the right chemistry. In 1977 Mick Jones, Ian MacDonald, Al Greenwood, Ed Gagliard and Dennis Elliott recorded their first album entitled Foreigner, which went on to sell 5,000,000 copies in the United States alone.
The rock band Journey was formed in San Francisco in 1973 but did not have commercial success until 1978 when they released the album Infinity which contained the song “Wheel in the Sky.” Infinity became a certified platinum album and set the band on the road to stardom. From 1978 to 1987, Journey released hit after hit, including “Don’t Stop Believin’” (1981). The Recording Industry Association of America indicates Journey has sold 48 million albums in the U.S. and their worldwide sales have reached close to 90 million records, making them one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time.
The event includes a cash bar along with an “On Your Feet” section for audience members who enjoy a more lively viewing experience. Reserved seats are $22-$29.
