Fort Wayne Philharmonic
The Fort Wayne Philharmonic brings one of its Freimann concerts to Tibbits Opera House for an afternoon performance on April 19 as part of the Tibbits Entertainment Series.
The Phil, as it is affectionately called, is currently performing its 71st season. Its Freimann Series is the most intimate musical experience The Phil has to offer. These concerts feature small ensembles in an intimate setting. Programmed and performed by the full-time musicians of The Phil, the Freimann Series offers diverse, colorful and engaging music that is sure to inspire. Under the music direction of Andrew Constantine, The Phil’s mission is to inspire and foster a lifelong love of classical music through performance and education. The Phil is a member of the League of American Orchestras and a funded member of Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts.
The program for this performance features “Sonate for Flute, Viola and Harp” by Claude Debussy with its playful and pleasant mood. That will be followed by Victor Ewald’s “Brass Quintet No. 2” a piece in three movements. The final selection will be “String Quartet in C-sharp Minor, op. 131” by Ludwig Van Beethoven considered to be an exciting illustration of the fascinating and drastic developments in his compositional style later in his career. Twelve musicians will be performing the three distinctive musical compositions from the three master composers.
According to Tibbits Executive Director, Christine Delaney, “Tibbits is an exciting place to hear classical music like the Fort Wayne Phil. When they perform in a space like ours, musicians are inspired. They love the acoustics, the setting and this creates an atmosphere that’s fabulous for the audience.”
