MONSTER FEST kicks off the Classic Film Series at Tibbits Opera House on Saturday, October 30 at 5:30pm before the downtown Coldwater Halloween parade with “Hocus Pocus.”

COLDWATER – Enjoy the antics of the villainous comedic trio of witches when Tibbits Opera House presents a screening of “Hocus Pocus” Saturday, October 30 at 5:30pm for their annual MONSTER FEST Halloween event.

Before Coldwater’s Halloween parade starts downtown, head to Tibbits and watch what is considered to be one of the most beloved family films of the 90s. Though not a commercial success upon its release, it has become a cult classic rediscovered by audiences in recent years.

Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” follows the story of three witches, the Sanderson sisters, played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.

In 1693, the Sanderson sisters are executed for practicing witchcraft but not before their living book of spells reveals to them a way for the trio to return from the dead. 300 years later, teenager Max Dennison who is a newcomer to Salem must spend the evening escorting his annoying little sister door to door for trick or treating while their parents enjoy the town Halloween dance. Max's efforts to impress a girl lead him to break the curse and bring the Sanderson sisters back from the dead. Thus begins a non-stop, fun-filled chase that has the fate of all the children of Salem hanging in the balance.

“Hocus Pocus” is generously sponsored by Dr. Matthew Christopher, DDS. Admission to this event is $8 in advance of $10 at the door. MONSTER FEST’s showing of “Hocus Pocus” is the first installment of the Tibbits Classic Film Series which has traditionally been a set of monthly double features showcasing Hollywood classics from every decade. Plans for additional Classic Film Series installments are currently being finalized. Concessions, including a cash bar, will be available for purchase.
