COLDWATER – Tibbits Summer Theatre opens June 16 with “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” the hilarious musical comedy about everything you’ve ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws.
The show progresses through the world of relationships, from awkward first dates to marital bliss, and baby talk to contemplation of divorce. It is filled with fun and relatable songs and scenes like “Single Man Drought,” “On the Highway of Love” and “Funerals are for Dating.”
Director Paul Kerr says, “The reason this show is one of the longest running off-Broadway musicals and has been performed all around the world is simple. Every single one of us has, or will be, on both ends of the title, ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.’ ”
He continues, “Young singles, harried parents, citizens with more than a few experiences behind them and looking for more, are all explored in this witty and wonderful musical revue. It will make you and your friends laugh not just at the characters, but at yourselves too, as we explore life and love.”
With book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” is under the musical direction of Lori Hatfield with choreography by Katelyn Crall. The show features Tibbits Summer Theatre veterans Stephanie Burdick, Matthew C. Scott and Chad Tallon, along with newcomer Katelyn Crall. The design staff features Aaron Bell as set designer and technical director, Kate Koskinen as costume designer, Jamie Gresens as light designer, props by Maddy Byrnes, Josh Rockwell as sound designer and Ariel Sheets as stage manager.
Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) continues its long-time support as sponsor of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.” The CBPU provides Coldwater residents with safe, reliable and affordable utility products and services. These services include electric, water and wastewater, garbage, television programming, digital phone service, and new gig fiber internet! As an organization that works for its neighbors, family, and friends, the CBPU focuses on its community impact.
A great benefit to Coldwater having CBPU as their public power provider is the support of local organizations and initiatives, including being a proud sponsor of the Tibbits Opera House Summer Theatre program. CBPU Director Paul Jackuzuback said, “Fine arts are a pillar in Coldwater. Our community wants to come together and embrace the diverse opportunities and culture here. The Tibbits Summer Program does just that.”
