Kick Off National Hispanic Heritage Month with Los Bandits
COLDWATER – As National Hispanic Heritage Month gets ready to kick off, Los Bandits de MIchigan will bring their Tex-Mex style of music to the Tibbits Opera House stage for a special concert on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7pm.
The band Los Bandits de MIchigan has been performing since 1991, but each individual member has over thirty years musical experience. Two members of the band were honored by the Governor of the State of Michigan and the Hispanic Caucus of the State of Michigan in 1999 for their outstanding contribution of Tex-Mex music in Michigan. A documentary on the band entitled Los Bandits: More than a Tex-Mex was released in 2005.
Band members include René Meave (guitar/vocals), Guillermo (Memo) Martinez (accordions/vocals), Esteban (Steve) Ortiz (drums/vocals) and Ernesto (Ernie) Ortiz (bass guitar/vocals). Los Bandits’ music reflects the richness of Tex-Mex music by combining Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Country, Rock, Norteño, and Tejano Music. The band has an alternative world-beat sound that appeals to a very diverse audience.
This concert includes a cash bar. All seating is general admission. Tickets are all $10 and may be purchased by visiting Tibbits.org or by calling 517-278-6029. Tibbits Opera House is located at 14 S. Hanchett Street, Coldwater, MI 49036.
