March Comedy Fest Features Professional Comedians

COLDWATER –Roars of laughter will fill the Tibbits as three professional stand-up comedians help the audience shake off their winter blues on Saturday, March 16 at 7pm for Coldwater’s Comedy Fest.
Headlining this year is Bengt Washburn, a former winner of the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition. He has been seen on The Late Late Show with Craig Fergusen, Live at Gotham on Comedy Central and most recently Conan on TBS. He was invited to perform at the Vancouver International Comedy Festival, The Boston Comedy Festival, the Aspen Laff Festival and Gilda’s Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He’s been heard on NPR, Public Radio International, and Bob and Tom. All three of his comedy CDs can be heard playing on XM Sirius radio. Most people who know him would say Bengt is “a logistically impaired ditz, but his comedy is described as intelligent, surprisingly universal considering the content matter and profoundly funny.”
The featured comic for this year’s Comedy Fest is Mark Chalifoux. Called a “hilarious up-and-comer” by College Humor, stand-up comedian Chalifoux, has been featured on Fox and IFC television as well as on the Bob and Tom show. His Midwestern upbringing contributes to the laid-back, relatable style that belies a sharp-wit and unflinching honesty honed through his rise in the comedy clubs of New York City. He’s been featured in the Boston Comedy Festival, the Limestone Comedy Festival and the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival (among others). His jokes have been heard on SiriusXM and read in Reader’s Digest and he’s written for ESPN and CBS Digital.
Hailing from the small town of Marne, MI Gerrit Elzinger has always been able to see the humor in the most miniscule of things. Upon graduating he did move on to bigger and better things including Gilda’s Laughfest Comedy Festival, ACME Comedy Co. and Dr. Grins Comedy Club. Gerrit will be emceeing the show.
Coldwater Comedy Fest tickets are $18 – $25 including fees and are available at Tibbits.org, at Tibbits administrative offices at 93 W. Chicago St. in Coldwater, or by calling 517.278.6029. The event also features a cash bar offering wine, beer and a variety of mixed drinks. This performance will be held at the historic Tibbits Opera House at 14 S. Hanchett St. in Coldwater, MI.
