Summer Theatre Auditions Set for Boys’ Roles
COLDWATER – Tibbits Summer Theatre will hold auditions to fill two boys’ roles in its summer season; auditions will be Wednesday, April 29 starting a 5:30 pm.
The two parts to be filled are Michael in “Peter Pan” and in Theo in “Pippin.” Michael is the youngest of the Darling children who flies off to Neverland. He is shy and loves his Teddy Bear. Parents will need to sign a release allowing the child to be harnessed and professionally flown during the production. For the other role, Theo is the son of a widow whom Prince Pippin encounters on his quest to find true happiness. Both roles require singing, acting and some movement.
The commitment for either role is three weeks and includes daytime rehearsals every day the week prior to the show, day and evening rehearsals the week of the show, and all performances. “Peter Pan” performances are at 8 pm July 9, 10, 16, 17 and at 2 pm July 9, 11, 15 and 18. “Pippin” performances are at 8 pm July 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, August 1 and at 2 pm July 23 and 29.
In order to audition boys must be less than five feet, four inches tall and still have a soprano voice. They should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a current, non-returnable photo. Boys will audition in groups of three to five. They are expected to introduce themselves from the stage and read from the script. They will sing a familiar children’s song together and in rounds. There may be specific direction or a movement segment as well.
Auditions are held on stage at Tibbits Opera House, 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater, Mich. For more information call 517.278.6029 or go to www.Tibbits.org and click on the “auditions” tab. A copy of the reading is available for download on the site.
