“America the Beautiful” Art Gallery Exhibit Pieces Wanted at Tibbits
COLDWATER – From landscapes of harvest season, oceans and mountains to portraits of cultural celebrations and communities, to architecture or Old Glory and everything in between, Arts Alive invites artists of all ages and skill levels to submit their interpretations of “America the Beautiful” in their upcoming themed gallery show which will be displayed at Tibbits Opera House August through October.
While the gallery theme is “America the Beautiful,” it is up to the artist to interpret exactly what the phrase means to them. Artists may submit up to three pieces at $5 per submission. Paintings, photographs or drawings should be ready to hang using hanging wire. Sculpture or other mediums are accepted and encouraged as well. Prizes will be awarded to the top artists based on audience votes. Artists may also sell their work on commission.
Arts Alive member Stephanie Burdick said, “We’re pleased that this art show will coincide perfectly with our community-wide celebration of our ‘Cultivating Community’ event in September and October. A lot of area nonprofits and local groups are partnering to bring music, art, dance, book reads, food and conversation events like a Pride Festival, Hoptoberfest, a Pow Wow exhibition, Amish heritage event, and Yemeni presentation. Artists’ visions of their ‘America the Beautiful’ will be on display during these events.”
To be included in this art show, artists should drop off all pieces at Tibbits’ Administration Office at 93 W. Chicago St before 5pm August 29. “America the Beautiful” will be displayed in the lower level art gallery at the historic Tibbits Opera House, located at 14 S. Hanchett St. in Coldwater MI.
The art gallery currently features a solo exhibit of children’s author/illustrator Patricia Polacco’s artwork. The art gallery is open during events at Tibbits and by appointment. There is no admission charge for the gallery and visitors are encouraged to vote for Best of Show.
The gallery shows rotate approximately every eight weeks. The final exhibit of the 2022 gallery shows is “Seasons of Love” in November and December.
