COLDWATER – The popular event “Dancing with the Celebrities,” a local version of the hit television series “Dancing with the Stars,” hits the Tibbits stage with all the glitter and glamour it is known for on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014.
This year the couples are practicing dances such as the Rumba, the Waltz, and Jive to entertain the audience while at the same time raising money for the Tibbits Booster sponsored fundraiser. This is the seventh year for the event which has raised over $28,000 for Tibbits. This year’s featured dancers are Jamie and Andy Barrand, Kaitlyn Colyer and Ben Fagen, and April and John Morrell.
While the event includes judges the winners are actually chosen by the votes they collect prior to and at the event. Every dollar counts as a vote. “It’s so easy to vote for your favorite dancing couple. You can go on line at Tibbits.org, vote at the event, donate directly to the dancers’ canister or stop by the Tibbits administrative offices anytime,” said Dancing Chairperson Diane Riegel. “Any denomination is welcome.”
In addition to the dancing competition, last year’s winners, Doug Brown and Melanie Cumming, will be showcased in a spotlight dance, several other entertaining acts are scheduled which are sure to please everyone and the highlight is the presentation of the prized disco ball trophy. After the event, there is an afterglow sponsored by Bloom Dairy, Inc. in the art gallery where patrons can meet and greet the dancers.
“Where else can you bring the whole family for an evening of entertainment and support Tibbits at the same time?” Riegel said.
