Tibbits’ 59th consecutive summer theatre season features three musicals: the hilarious musical journey into relationships with “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change;” the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love with “Godspell;” and the hilarious, heavenly “Nunsense.” The season closes with Neil Simon’s comedy “Barefoot in the Park.”

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” opens the season and runs June 16-25.  Everything people have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws becomes the subject of this hilarious musical comedy. Progress through the relationships, from awkward first dates to marital bliss, and baby talk to contemplation of divorce, with relatable songs and scenes like “Single Man Drought,” “On the Highway of Love” and “Funerals are for Dating.”

Next, the energetic musical “Godspell” dances across the stage with messages of kindness, tolerance and love at performances on June 30- July 9.  A small group playfully bring the parables of Jesus to life with an eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville including “Day by Day,” “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All Good Gifts” and “Turn Back, O Man.”

The final musical of the season, “Nunsense,” will continue the fun on stage July 14-23. The Little Sisters of Hoboken parade their talents in a variety show staged to raise funds to bury sisters accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia (Child of God). Songs like “Nunsense is Habit-Forming,” “Tackle that Temptation with a Time-Step”, and “Holier than Thou” will keep the audience laughing and humming long after the show ends.

The main season closes with Neil Simon’s comedy “Barefoot in the Park,” which has performances July 28-August 6. This classic comedy follows newlyweds Corie and Paul, who are over the moon to begin their life together in their new Manhattan apartment. Their small space, the six-flight climb, the busted heat, snow falling through the skylight, a surprise visit from Corie’s conservative widowed mother, and the antics of their eccentric bohemian neighbor, turn their life into comical discord.
