Volunteer of the Month Kasprzyk honored by Tibbits Opera House

COLDWATER – Tibbits volunteer Pam Kasprzyk has been named December Volunteer of the Month for the historic theatre, which relies heavily on volunteer support.

Born and raised in Toldedo, OH, Kasprzyk moved to the community in 1991 with her husband Ralph. Kasprzyk’s first introduction to Tibbits was being hired as office staff from 1991-1998.

Pam Kasprzyk, named December Volunteer of the Month, worked as a server at Arts Alive’s holiday event in November, but also works weekly at the Tibbits office and volunteers in other areas to help Tibbits Opera House.

Kasprzyk said, “Ralph and I started coming up here on weekends, and after getting laid off at our jobs in Toledo, decided we would love to live up here. We loved the smaller town and friendly people. [Tibbits] was probably the best job I could have ever gotten, as it gave me a chance to meet many people and work with different organizations in the county.”

Kasprzyk became an official volunteer in 2013, but working at Tibbits also gave her plenty of volunteering opportunities.  She then worked part time as the Volunteer Liaison from 2013 until 2016. In between her two times working at Tibbits, Kasprzyk also worked as a Customer Service representative in Angola, Indiana. Currently she helps track volunteer hours, prepare food for artist hospitality, assemble mailings, fold programs, clean and garden at Tibbits.

Now that she’s retired, Kasprzyk’s favorite hobbies are weekly Mah-Jong, reading and attending a book club, as well as volunteering at the Food Pantry and at Tibbits.  She also enjoys traveling on cruises and baking.

About Tibbits, Kasprzyk loves being able to interact with the community, and meeting so many people with similar interests.  She says, “One of my favorite things is when the children come in for the school performances and seeing their eyes light up with the excitement. I think there is something for everybody to do at Tibbits.”

“I feel that the community of Branch County is so lucky to have a venue like Tibbits, with all the different entertainment and community experience it affords us.  I love this community and how great everyone is in giving of their time and money to keep this great gem going,” Kasprzyk adds.

The Volunteer of the Month is chosen by Tibbits staff. Selection is based on the hours and/or service, as well as leadership, special skills or expertise shared. Criteria may be project specific or general support and volunteerism. In recognition of this award, Kasprzyk received a $25 Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce Debit Card.

Tibbits is always looking for more volunteers in a variety of areas: ushering, working the gift shop or concessions area, doing general office help, planting flowers or decorating the theater and much more.
