Tibbits Names Shannon King November Volunteer of the Month

COLDWATER –With the return of concerts and films plus a record-breaking auction, Tibbits Opera House has had a busy fall that would not be possible without assistance from its volunteers, including newcomer Shannon King who has been named Tibbits’ November Volunteer of the Month.

King joined the volunteer group this fall, but has jumped in wholeheartedly, assisting in multiple areas of volunteerism. Along with preparing bulk mailings and helping fold fabric in the costume shop, she played a critical role in Tibbits’ Annual Auction as a committee member and volunteer during the event.

Shannon King has been named Tibbits’ November Volunteer of the Month for her recent work as an auction committee member and other volunteer work at the historic theatre.

Originally from Jonesville, King and her husband Todd lived in Ann Arbor and Arizona before moving to Coldwater in 2003 to be closer to family. Married for 21 years, they have two children, Alison and Brennen. Shannon has been a stay-at-home mom for the last three years, previously working as the school secretary for St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School. Her current hobbies are supporting her children in their athletic endeavors and volunteering.

According to King, “the number one reason for volunteering is simply the Tibbits staff and the other volunteers. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, helpful and considerate!” She added, “They have all been warm and welcoming and have made me feel like I have been a part of the volunteer staff for years.”

In recognition for her service, she has been awarded a $25 Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce debit card. The Volunteer of the Month is chosen based on hours, service, management, and any special talents or experience they may offer. The decision may depend upon a particular event or project, or for general support for the theatre and the performing arts.

Tibbits welcomes volunteers in theatre roles including ushering, working at the Ghost Light Bar, assisting in the office, sorting archival materials, decorating, and much more.
