COLDWATER- Students ages 11-19 can test their creativity and explore the world of film production through a 10-day film competition presented by Tibbits Theatre and Beyond (T-TAB) starting June 14 at Tibbits Opera House with the premiere of the films on June 25.

The contest begins with the kick-off event June 14 at the box office in Tibbits Opera House where prospective teams can stop in between 9AM and 5PM to receive assignments that will drive their film projects. Participants can also stop in after June 14 for their assignments, but they won’t be given additional days to complete their projects. Contest participants will have ten days to produce videos which meet randomly drawn criteria including: film genre, character to be used, required prop to be used in the video, and line of dialogue. The criterion ensures that no team starts working on their video prior to June 14.

Individuals or teams of up to five people will write, direct, act in, and edit their videos which are required to be between 3 and 6 minutes in length. Further contest rules are provided on the Tibbits website HERE.

Final videos must be submitted to the box office at the theatre on Monday, June 24 between 9am and 5pm. All entries will be premiered Tuesday, June 25 at 7pm at Tibbits Opera House, with the public welcome to attend at no cost. T-TAB members will select first, second, and third place winners. There will also be an audience choice award determined by text voting. Cash prizes will be awarded!

The10-day film competition is just one of T-TAB’s annual events.  This youth group composed of middle and high school students from throughout the county expand their knowledge of theatre by producing their own events, working behind the scenes for Tibbits Young Audiences productions, assisting with marketing, ushering, and through educational workshops.
