Cutline: Tibbits welcomes Jeff Daniels back to the Tibbits after a 5 year hiatus

COLDWATER – Michigan native Jeff Daniels returns to Tibbits for a single performance Thursday, August 21 featuring his own brand of entertainment, songs and stories presented in his down-to-earth style, this time with an opening act by The Ben Daniels Band.

The show features Jeff Daniels on guitar singing many of his own songs, some poignant, some funny. The songs themselves tell stories of Daniels’ life, and loves. Most were written on location during his extensive film career, offering a glimpse of the celebrities with whom he’s worked and a behind the scenes view of his career. In the five years since his last appearance at Tibbits there have been many new location shoots and more celebrity encounters.

Daniels had a run on Broadway and a Tony nomination for the Tony award-winning “God of Carnage.” He’s completed a second “Dumb and Dumber” film scheduled to open in November. He’s also been busy with the HBO series “The Newsroom” for which he won an Emmy Award. A native of Chelsea, Michigan, Daniels’ humor and perspective reflects his Midwestern upbringing.
Joining him for the show as the opening act is his son’s band. The Ben Daniels Band has been noted for its originality, musicianship, and a sound that spans Americana, Blues, Jazz, and Rock. They have made their mark across Michigan and have toured to New York City, Washington D.C., and Nashville. Ben, considered a natural poet and songwriter in his own right, has also picked up the family trait of hard work, perseverance, and creatively challenging himself and the audience.
Jeff Daniels’ performance is sponsored by Pro Resources, an employment services firm with 18 locations across northern Indiana. They offer short and long-term staffing, direct hire, recruiting and consulting and specialize in innovative human resources solutions.

There will also be a meet and greet following the performance with wine and hors d’oeuvres with a limited number of tickets. Tickets for the show with the meet and greet are $85 or $80 for members. Tickets for just the show are $40, $35 for Tibbits members and $25 for students. All prices include fees. Performance is at 7 pm.

Tickets are available now with the purchasing a $100 Entertainment Passbook good for any of the other shows in the 2014-15 Entertainment Series. Events include Parrots of the Caribbean tribute to Jimmy Buffet on January 24, a Valentine’s Day movie special, the Coldwater Comedy Fest on March 13. Additionally, up to three music events are being planned for the fall and late spring. The Entertainment Passbook is good for six tickets to your choice of shows and may be used in any combination, one ticket for six shows, two tickets for three shows or all six for one show. Passbooks offer a savings over the regular ticket prices and early notification once the new shows are announced. The Entertainment Passbook is not interchangeable with the Summer Theatre Passbook.

For reservations call Tibbits at 517-278-6029 or stop at the theatre box office at 14 South Hanchett Street Coldwater. Tickets for Jeff Daniels without the commitment of the rest of the Entertainment series will go on sale on July 15. They will then be available on line at www.Tibbits.org.
