Tibbits’ Family-Friendly “A Popped Potpourri” Moves to The Ponds of Coldwater

Coldwater, MI – After an enthusiastic crowd at the opening of Tibbits Summer Theatre’s first show of the season, Tibbits will once again adapt, moving its next show, “A Popped Potpourri,” to The Ponds as well in response to the governor’s executive order which does not yet allow theatres to open.

Tibbits Executive Director Christine Delaney exclaimed, “With all the twists and turns and changes we’ve endured the past few months, we are beyond excited that we were able to delight audiences for ‘Sing Happy’ last weekend and can’t wait to do it again for our younger theatre-goers for ‘A Popped Potpourri’ this weekend!”

Tibbits Summer Theatre will move the location of its second show of the summer season, “A Popped Potpourri” from the Tibbits Opera House to The Ponds in response to the governor’s executive order which does not yet allow theatres to open.

To celebrate its popular Popcorn Theatre, Tibbits Summer Theatre has rolled what everyone loves about those family-friendly productions into a feature performance in its revised season called “A Popped Potpourri.”  It will include musical favorites from popular kids’ movies, readers theatre versions of Cinderella and a collection of Aesop’s Fables performed by an outstanding small company of favorite Tibbits performers. The show will even include several classic cartoon shorts.

“A Popped Potpourri”, along with the rest of the 2020 TST Season, is presented through the generous sponsorship support of Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, Parrish Excavating, Inc.; and Frederick Family Dental. Additional sponsors include Coldwater Orthodontics; Dr. Jon & Seibra Herbener; Stan and Judy Bushouse; Great Lakes Chiropractic; Honor Credit Union; Coldwater Exchange Club; Matthew C. Christopher, DDS; and Vested Risk Strategies.

Located minutes from the opera house at 368 S. Jefferson Street, The Ponds offers a secluded setting with both space for social distancing and privacy to enjoy an intimate performance. All tickets for the event will be transferred to the new location. Masks will still be highly encouraged.

The schedule will change slightly with Thursday July 16 remaining at 6pm, the Friday July 17 performance moving to a 2pm matinee, and the Saturday July 18 performances moved to one 10am show. Tickets for “A Popped Potpourri” are $20 (including fees) for all seats, with discounts available to Tibbits members and $10 tickets for kids. Tickets are still available at Tibbits.org or by calling 517-278-6029.

Tibbits has revamped its summer theatre schedule to respect social distancing guidelines and still offer the quality professional entertainment that has become synonymous with Tibbits Summer Theatre. Tibbits has added Plexiglas at points of sale, revised its seating, taken additional cleaning steps to ensure the safety of patrons and staff, and encourages the use of masks.
