Pines and Youth Mental Health Project to present “No Letting Go”
Pines Behavioral Health, together with the Youth Mental Health Project, is proud to show to the community the award winning film “No Letting Go,” a true story of youth mental illness September 24 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The event at Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater is free to the public and an open discussion will follow each showing.
“No Letting Go” is a 2015 award winning film starring Cheryl Allison, Richard Burgi and featuring Kathy Najimy. Following each showing, Valerie Barton of the Youth Mental Health Project (YMPH) will be present to discuss the importance of youth mental health. YMHP is a non-profit grassroots organization with a mission to educate, empower, and support families and communities to better understand and care for the mental health of our youth.
The Covid-19 Epidemic has negatively impacted the world’s mental health system as anxiety, depression, and mood disorders have increased – especially within our youth. “No Letting Go” is a film that describes the challenges faced when a child experiences mental illness, and the impact on the child, parents, and the entire family system as the roads to recovery are traveled. Living with, or caring for, a loved one with a mental illness takes an immense amount of love, courage and persistence which can be significantly hampered by the stigma of seeking help. It’s time to talk openly about mental health conditions and understand how each one of us can support each other.
Pines Behavioral Health is Branch County’s public behavioral health service authority, serving all persons with behavioral health conditions including members of the military and veterans, regardless of ability to pay. Priority is provided to persons with a serious mental health, youth with a serious emotional concerns, persons with an intellectual/developmental disability, and persons with a substance use disorder.
