Talented Teens Compete for Cash Prizes
Twenty-five talented teenagers will entertain community members during the “Spotlight on Teens” talent show at the Tibbits Opera House on Saturday, May 7 at 7PM.
The students, age 11 to 18, will sing, dance, sign and play musical instruments in their quest for prizes during the annual competition which is produced by the Tibbits Theatre and Beyond (T-TAB).
Several students will incorporate sign language as part of their routines. Kailey Thorn, who placed at last year’s competition explained, “I first started studying American Sign Language (ASL) about 4 years ago so that I could interpret a song for a pageant I was competing in. After performing that one song, I fell in love with the language and have continued to learn and compete. ASL has become such a big part of my life – it’s a beautiful language and it’s so important.”

Tammy Apmann, who has coordinated T-Tab since 2014 says, “The talent in this annual competition just keeps getting better and better including the skit created by T-Tab members who really strive to give audiences an experience they will still be talking about Monday morning at school.”
A panel of three judges will give out cash prizes for the first five place winners. Audience choice awards will also be given using a text voting platform.
Tickets for the show are $5 and are available online and at the door the night of the performance. Proceeds from the event support T-TAB and Tibbits Opera House.
Tibbits Theatre and Beyond provides middle and high school students a chance to learn more about theatre through workshops, hands-on experience, performance, and the production of the annual talent show.
