Tibbits February Volunteer of the Month: Dusti Donbrock
COLDWATER – Volunteer Dusti Donbrock has been named February Volunteer of the Month for Tibbits Opera House.
Donbrock first got involved with volunteering at Tibbits by ushering for summer theater. When her girls were young, she and her husband used it as their date night. It was a great way to get involved and have a date. Once her girls were in the Tibbits Young Audiences shows, the director found out that she could sew and she started making costumes. Donbrock has been making costumes ever since. Her favorite place to volunteer is in the costume shop sorting, organizing and cleaning it as well as helping sew during summer theater. She likes to do just about anything with Tibbits that is behind the scenes. Aside from the costume shop, she also enjoys planting and tending the flowers in the theater’s side garden and the pots at the front of the theater.

Born and raised in the Coldwater area, Donbrock met her husband, Chris, at church and they have been married for 30 years. They have two daughters who are grown: One is married and is a teacher in the Ft Wayne schools, the other attends MSU and will transfer in the fall to Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Donbrock works at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital, where she has been a registered nurse for 27 years.
“I love being at Tibbits. I love the historical building and I especially love all the people that come to visit it. I like working with other volunteers to make the Tibbits a very special place in our community that we can gather and enjoy,” she said.
Donbrock continued, “I have met and made a lot of friends being involved with Tibbits. I really love to hear where people are from and the stories that we all have to share with each other. Volunteering is so good for your soul. Everyone should find somewhere they can volunteer. I am just grateful I found my place!”
The Volunteer of the Month is chosen by Tibbits staff. Selection is based on the hours and/or service, as well as leadership, special skills or expertise shared. Criteria may be project specific or general support and volunteerism. In recognition of this award, Donbrock received a $25 Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce Debit Card.
Tibbits is always looking for more volunteers in a variety of areas: ushering, working the gift shop or concessions area, doing general office help, sorting archival materials, planting flowers or decorating the theater and much more.
