Tibbits Installs Air Purifying System

Coldwater- Among the advances to bring audiences a safer environment in which to enjoy the shows, Tibbits invested in a PHI (Photohydroionization) Unit for its air handling system.

Using ultraviolet light, micro-organisms in the air including germs, viruses and bacteria get stuck together killing them and making them larger and easily captured by air filters. After the unit was installed, all of the ducts and air returns in the theatre were professionally cleaned. Air filters have also been replaced with higher-rated air filters. Tibbits received a partial rebate for the improvements from the Branch County Economic Growth Alliances COVID-19 Rebate program.

To meet recommendations by the CDC, Tibbits has created socially-distanced seating and will be limiting capacity for events. Staff has installed Plexiglas and hand sanitizing stations and have added additional cleaning. Masks will be required for audiences as they enter and move around the theatre. Concessions will be available at events only as state restrictions allow.

Executive Director Christine Delaney said, “The theatre is ready for an audience.”

In addition to the guidelines and mandates, Tibbits surveyed its audience to learn how to best meet their expectations. Survey results indicated the wearing of masks was one of the items which allowed the MOST people to feel the MOST comfortable.” Delaney said, “If you choose to attend we ask that you please respect the choice we’ve made for the best interest of the theatre. For those who are just not ready to return, we understand and wish you good health. We’ll be here when you’re ready!”
