Tibbits Night Golf and Par-Tee Result in Fun Fundraiser
Area businesses, golfers and individuals turned out for a fun time on the course in support of Tibbits Opera Foundation and it’s first Golf Par-Tee and Night Golf event grossing over $13,000 for the evening.
The winning golf team of Daniel Gordon, Will Smith, Adam Cappella and John Rakocy won 18-holes of golf at the Coldwater Golf Club and second place team of Dr. Gary Werkman, Douglas Werkman, Jeffrey Werkman and Blair Rogers won four rounds of mini putt at The Adventure Zone.
With the number of golf events in the area, Tibbits Golf Committee decided to change the theatre’s annual golf tournament for a new fresh event still focused on raising funds for the annual operations of the historic theatre. The event brought 11 teams to play nine holes of golf in the dark with glow balls, lighted flags on the green, flashlights and glow sticks on the carts. “We didn’t lose anyone on the course and they all had a good time,” according to Mike Beckwith Tibbits golf committee chair.
The event was sponsored by Bloom Dairy, Inc., Oak Prairie Farms, and Kurt Albright Farms. Nearly 100 people enjoyed a hog roast dinner, drinks and music by the Jim Stout Band and The Back Up Band. The fundraiser generated approximately $8500 in profit. Beckwith said, “We appreciate all of those who came out and tried the new format, the new event. It’s always risky to change things but I think it turned out to be a really fun evening. We hope to build on it for next year.”
Ray Sebastian won the putting contest and Dr. Gary Werkman won the corn-hole challenge. First place for the large raffle drawing sponsored by the Foundation Golf Center was Jim Maxson winning a stay and golf at Island Hills golf Course and Jayne Lillis won the second place certificate for Tibbits 2015-16 Entertainment Series.
Other sponsors for the event included Attorney JR Colbeck; Branch County Abstract & Title, Inc.; Quality Springs TOGO; Bobilya Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram; Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary; Studio 17 Salon & Spa; Coldwater Lake Marina; Adult & Pediatric Dental Care; Cameron Memorial Community Hospital; Dean Insurance; Community Health Center of Branch County; Century Bank & Trust; Gordon’s Culligan. Beckwith also extend thanks to all of the table and door prize sponsors who helped make the event a success.
