Tibbits Opera House Purchases New Light Board for Summer Theatre Season
COLDWATER – As a part of the ongoing effort to improve every aspect of Tibbits Opera House, from the building to its requisite technology in providing top of the line entertainment, Tibbits has purchased a new light board just in time for the summer theatre season.
This effort was made possible through the combined donations of the Coldwater Noon Club and the Sunrise Rotary Club, both longtime supporters of Tibbits, the arts and the broader Coldwater community. Each organization contributed $6,500 for the new system, a $13,000 investment.
“We are thankful for the ongoing support of both the Coldwater Noon Club and the Sunrise Rotary Club, who made this purchase possible,” said Tibbits Executive Director Christine Delaney. “
The new light board will allow Tibbits Summer Theatre Lighting Designer Jamie Gresens a greater range of options, and a more streamlined programming process for lighting his light designs. This will enhance the experience for theatre-goers as the Tibbits technical staff creates fresh new ways to tell the stories audiences will see unfold on stage.
The previous light board was purchased in 2014, and was designed for fewer lights and more conventional light fixtures. As the lighting system has been upgraded in the theatre with more LED fixtures and moving lights, the need for an upgraded light board console has increased accordingly. This new setup runs on the same software as the prior system, but with additional options, and greater operational capacity.
Tibbits Summer Theatre features a professional company of actors, designers and technicians from across the country, and offers at least six performances of each mainstage show, with both matinee and evening performances available. Additionally, Tibbits Popcorn Theatre offers five family-friendly shows Friday and Saturday mornings beginning June 6 and running through August 2.
