Tibbits Young Audiences Presents Disney’s Aladdin Jr
COLDWATER – With a flying carpet and the magical city of Agrabah, cast members of Tibbits Young Audiences musical “Disney’s Aladdin Jr.” are ready to show off months of hard work when they take to the stage March 22 and 23 at 7pm and March 24 at 2pm at Tibbits Opera House.
“Disney’s Aladdin JR.” is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. In this adaptation, Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. With expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up “a whole new world” for you!
The cast is made up of 48 students fourth through eighth grades and includes cast members from Coldwater, Quincy, Union City, Athens, Tekonsha, Bronson, and even Fremont and Angola, IN. Cast members include Lo`gan Foster as Aladdin; Joel Miller, Rachel Rutz, Abigail Robison, Faith Miller as Aladdin’s pals; Lauren Teeple as Jasmin; McKinley Kirk, Alison Christopher, Corrin Cook, Moriah Nottigham as Jasmine’s friends; Ryan Smith as Genie; Logan Kirk as Iago; Jeffrey Harvey as Jafar; Jonah Pentecost as Sultan; Jada Bell as Razoul; Evan Foley, Malachi Payne, London Elkins, Adira Jaros and Jackie VanEvery as guards; Gunnar Cornwell as Abdullah; Sonya Vorce, Isabel Christopher, Colton LaFountain, and Lexis Harris as attendants; Abigail Needham as apple vendor; Brianna Barle as fortune teller; Faith Herbert as scarf vendor; Saylor Fraley as shop owner, Sydney Gallop as silk vendor; Madelynn Payne as tassel vendor; Andrew Yelavich, Molly Foster, Elliot Teeple, Madelynn Grife and Paul Sharp as beggars; Anna Vorce, Alison Turner, Ivy Witmer, Lily Witmer, Hope Herbert, and Bree Tappenden as citizens; Deena Ahmed, Olivia Hoath, Janet Rucker, Aliyah LaVergne, Pierce Smith, and Samuel Carpenter as dancers.
Disney’s Aladdin Jr is directed and choreographed by Julia Littley, with musical direction by Jayne Lillis, and produced by Tirsha Odisher. Laura Odom has provided costumes, with set design by Leon Kriser and props by Stacy Guertler. This production is generously sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Coldwater.
Tibbits Young Audiences offers programs both for and by area youth to develop their interest in the arts. Two shows yearly, a non-musical in the fall and a musical in the spring, provide students an enjoyable introduction to the world of theatre. By putting on a show, they learn teamwork, discipline, theatre skills, self confidence and an appreciation for the arts.
All shows will be held at Tibbits Opera House, 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater, Mich. All tickets are general admission. Tickets are available from cast members, at the door, or online. Tickets are $5 each, but all online and credit card purchases have an additional $2 processing fee per ticket.
