UNCONVENTIONAL Christmas Double Feature
Tibbits presents its “Unconventional” Christmas movie double-feature Saturday, December 19 with “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” and “Die Hard” both on the big screen at the historic theatre in Coldwater.
The “Unconventional” Christmas event includes a beer and wine cash bar, refreshments, holiday cheer, and two movies viewers will find more fun on the big screen and in the company of others. Tickets for a single film are $5 or $8 for the double feature. “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” begins at 5 pm and “Die Hard” begins at 7 pm. Five Star Pizza from Broadway Grill will be on sale by the slice between the two films.
“Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” from 1964 presents a campy story of Martians who try to kidnap the one and only Santa. While on Earth, they kidnap two lively children who lead them to the North Pole and Santa Claus. While their plans succeed in getting Santa to Mars the outcome is not what they expect. Santa overcomes the Martians and brings fun, happiness and Christmas cheer to the children of Mars.
Called one of the best American action films of all time, the second feature is the 1988 blockbuster, “Die Hard.” Over 20 years after its release the film still holds up and has become for many their own Christmas tradition. In the film, a corporate Christmas party becomes the setting for a major bank heist with hostages. Danger and tension rise until John McClane, played by Bruce Willis, takes matters into his own hands.
Tibbits Entertainment Series has traditionally offered a variety of music concerts, theatre and comedy for patrons. This year a “Plus” series offers additional selections aimed at further broadening the appeal of Tibbits with some less conventional entertainment including film, younger bands and comedy. The Plus series began last month with the film “The Princess Bride” and also includes Delilah DeWylde and The Lost Boys May 6, 2016 and comedian Heywood Banks June 18, 2016.
