Wild Swan Theatre Brings Fairy Tales to Life
Area elementary students will experience live theatre through several delightful stories shared in “Once Upon a Time,” a Wild Swan Theater production coming to Tibbits on Wednesday, April 13.
Young visitors to the theatre will enjoy an engaging collection of favorite children’s classics including “Three Billy Goat’s Gruff,” “Reynard the Fox” and “The Three Little Pigs.” In true Wild Swan style, three performers and a musician create all the magic inherent in these timeless stories making this first time theater experience unforgettable.
The show will be presented at 9:30am and 1pm. Schools participating include Max Larson, Union City Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Jennings Elementary, Pansophia Academy, Girard Elementary, and several pre-school programs. This particular show is at capacity and therefore no tickets will be available at the door.
Wild Swan Theater is an Ann Arbor-based professional theater company focused on theatre for young people. Every year their troupe of actors and musicians travel throughout Michigan and the Midwest, providing engaging and enriching live theater experiences for children and their families.
Asama Coldwater Manufacturing has teamed with Tibbits to help the theatre present its school performance series. In addition to “Once Upon a Time,” storyteller Rosie Chapman will portray Harriet Tubman on May 17, and high school students will see a Michigan Shakespeare Festival presentation of “Romeo and Juliet,” on May 24. These programs are also funded with support from the Michigan Humanities Council Touring Arts program and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
